Carta Sonora de Mallorca is an online project that wants to disseminate the soundscapes of the island with the help provided by current new technologies. A database approach that has to allow users to approach and explore sound events from the past, knowing the specific locations in which each landscape is located as well as the people, or other agents, that produce them. This information is presented in a cartographic way, on top of a map, which allows us to know the spatial relationships between the different events, which are also presented on a chronological axis. All this, expanded with photographic, pictorial and audiovisual material, aims to offer the user an experience as immersive and inclusive as possible with the intention of helping a better understanding of sound, music and artistic, cultural, economic and social activity. in Mallorca, establishing an aesthetic and intellectual dialogue with auditory sensory history through an interdisciplinary approach that brings together the studies of urban musicology, anthropology and other areas such as cultural history and art history.
This portal intends to become a reference methodological tool for musicologists and sound researchers as well as for educational institutions and those related to cultural diffusion, facilitating the approach of knowledge sources resulting from academic research and public knowledge.

Joan Antoni Ballester

Joan Antoni Ballester Coll, (Llucmajor, 1984). És mestre d’educació musical (UIB) i Musicòleg (CSMIB i Universidad de La Rioja). Actualment és director de l’Escola de Música i Arts Escèniques de Llucmajor i professor del departament de musicologia i pedagogia del Conservatori Superior de Música de les Illes Balears. Com a musicòleg, els seus interessos es centren en l’estudi històric del paisatge sonor a Mallorca, on destaca el seu treball Anàlisi funcional de les campanes de la Seu de Mallorca (2014), “El soundscape de M. Antònia Salvà: La poesia com a descripció de paisatges sonors” (2019) i “Salves com a expressió de joia i festa: el cas de les escopetades de Pasqua a Llucmajor” (2020); i en el camp de l’ontologia de la música, on destaquen The editions of Celibidache (EMI, 1997): An approximation from Baudrillard, i Simulacre de Concert. Reflexions sobre l’enregistrement de música clàssica des de l’òptica de Baudrillard: les estratègies de Glenn Gould, Sergiu Celibidache i l’streaming postpandèmic (ambdós de 2021).
